Cargo Turnover Declines in Georgian Corridor

Cargo turnover continues declining in Georgian corridor. In January-February 2018, Georgian corridor handled 5.5 million tons of cargo, down 0.3 million tons year on year.

In 2017 total volume of transported cargo made up 41.5 million tons, 2016 – 42.3 million tons, 2015 – 44.2 million tons.

Volume of cargo handled at seaports and sea terminals has also decreased and totaled 2.6 million tons in January-February period, down 2.8 million tons year on year.

Contraction in cargo treatment is also recorded at seaports: 16.3 million tons in 2017, 17. 6 million tons in 2016 and 19.2 million tons in 2015.

Containers handling indicator has slightly increased at seaports and made up 65 646 TEU in January-February 2017.
