In the first quarter of 2017 the volume of cargo transported in Georgia constituted 8.7 million tons. The cargo shipping volume has not changed year on year.
In the reporting period, seaports and sea terminals handled 4.3 million tons of cargo and 88.210 TEU containers, upturn year on year.
Supsa sea terminal handled 1 million tons of cargo, a slowdown year on year. Batumi sea terminal handled 1.2 million tons of cargo. Poti sea terminal and Kulevi sea terminals handled 1.6 and 0.5 million tons of cargo.
As to containers, in the reporting period Batumi seaport handled 16 911 TEU containers, Poti seaport handled 71 299 TEU containers.
