Annual Inflation Rate in Georgia Reached 6.4%

The inflation rate in Georgia in October was 0.8 percent compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate was 6.4 percent.

According to the statistical data, the price change in the given period was significantly affected by the change in prices for the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Prices rose by 1.6 percent, which was reflected in the index at 0.46 percentage points.

Prices increased by subgroups: vegetables and parsley (11.5 percent), milk, cheese and eggs (3,2 percent)  oil and fat (1,1 percent).

In addition, prices decreased in fruit and grapes (-3.0 percent); Clothing and shoes: In the group the prices increased by 6.5 percent. Accordingly, the contribution of the group to the overall index was 0.19 percentage points. Prices increased on shoes (12.0 percent) and clothing (3.6 percent).

Prices have been a major factor in the formation of annual inflation rates for the following groups: food and non-alcoholic beverages: prices increased by 7.4 percent to 2,21 percentage points in the overall index growth. Fruits and gourmet (13.7 percent), milk, cheese and eggs (11.7 percent), meat and meat products (9.1 percent), oils and fat (7,6 percent);

Transport: Prices increased by 14.7 percent, which was reflected in annual inflation of 1.83 percentage points.
