In August of 2018, the inflation rate in Georgia amounted to 0.5% and the annual inflation rate was 3,1%. Most of the prices are grown for vegetables and potatoes.
Changing the price of the monthly inflation rate has been a major influence on the following groups:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Prices increased by 1.5 percent, which was reflected in the overall inflation rate at 0.44 percentage points. Prices increased on subgroups: vegetables and parsley (16.4 percent), milk, cheese and eggs (4.8 percent). At the same time, the 16.2 percent decline in prices was observed on the fruit and grapes subgroup;
Clothing and footwear: Prices decreased by 1,1%, which was reflected in the index at -0,04%. During this period the prices decreased as sub-units (-1,3 percent) and clothing (-1.1 percent).
On the basis of the annual inflation rate, the price change has been a major influence on the following groups:
Transport: In the group the growth rate was 7.8 percent, which was reflected in annual inflation of 1,04 percentage points. Prices increased for the use of personal transport (12,9 percent). In addition, prices have been reduced for purchase of vehicles (-9,7 percent);
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: prices increased by 3.2 percent, which was reflected in the inflation rate at 0.9 percentage points. Vegetables and parsley (4.7 percent), meat and meat products(4,3 percent), fish (3.3 percent), milk, cheese and eggs (2,0 percent). In addition, prices decreased in fruit and grapes (-17,1 percent), as well as sugar, jam and other sweets (-3,1 percent);
Health: Prices increased by 5.2 percent, which was 0.44 percentage points reflected in the overall index growth.
Prices increased for subgroups: medical products and equipments (10.0 percent), medical services (2.9 percent) and hospital services (2.4 percent);
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: prices increased by 4.7 percent, reflecting a 0.33 percentage point increase in overall index growth. Prices have increased as tobacco products (8.0 percent) and alcoholic beverages (1.4 percent);
Living, water,energy, gas: prices increased by 3.4 percent. Accordingly, the contribution of the group was 0.29 percentage points in the annual inflation. Prices increased for water supply and other services (7.7 percent), as well as subgroups of electricity, gas and other types of fuels (3,2 percent).
