Adjaristskali Georgia Applies for Electricity Generation License

Adjaristsqali Georgia has applied to GNERC for granting an electricity generation license.

GNERC has already launched administrative proceedings on the issue. The issue refers to Shuakhevi HPP.

As reported, construction of the mentioned hydro power plant was finished in July 2017. Two cascades were built as part of the project along with due water storage facilities and dams. Derivation process is carried out through channels. 

Total length of Shuakhevi HPP tunnel is 38 kilometers and it is the second longest HPP tunnel worldwide. The project investment value exceeds 420mln USD.

Installed generation is 187 megawatts. According to the company information, Shuakhevi HPP is the biggest HPP that Georgia has built over the past 50 years. 

Deadline for issuing administrative-legal act by GNERC will expire on September 11, 2017.
