Georgia annually makes chocolate import of 13-15 thousand t.
According to “Sakstat”, chocolate import has amounted to 5,28 thousand t in Q1 of the year, which value totals to 16 million USD. The basic importing markets by this segment are Ukraine and Russia, respectively import of 40,55% and 34% accounts for them.
Namely, chocolate of 1,8 thousand t has been acquired at 5,95 million USD from Russia. While the cheaper products have come from Ukraine – 2,14 thousand t at 4,48 million USD. The top-5 includes Belgium, Italy and Turkey, chocolate cost of more than 1 million USD has been made from these three countries. Belgium – 1,44 million – 368 t; Italy – 1,303 million – 156,7 t and Turkey – 1,22 million – 426,6 t.
As for the annual rate, Georgia has purchased 13,19 thousand t chocolate at 42 million, the figure is decreased by 21% (11,4 million) y-o-y and as a result less chocolate by 1,5 thousand t has been acquired. Decline has been fixed in 2014 comparing to 2013. export is diminished by 3 million USD in terms of cost, while by 432 t in terms of volume.
