TeliaSonera to Withdraw from Georgia in 2017

TeliaSonera reaffirms plans for withdrawing from Eurasia Region.

TeliaSOnera wrote in midterim report of September 2016 that TeliaSonera Fintur Holdings shares are in the process of differentiation and this is part of reduction of representation in Eurasia Region, its announced plan. After discussions of several months, agreement has been achieved with Turkcell on purchase of a stake in Fintur Holdings. The purchasing process will be fully finished in 2017.

It should be noted in early October TeliaSonera finished process of separation of Spanish Yoigo and Masmovil to make accents on Scandinavia nadn Baltic reguons. At the same time, Tajik Tcell’s 60% ratio was sold to Aga Kahn Foundation that fully control the company currently.

TeliaSonera released statement on withdrawal from Georgia and Eurasia Region in September 2015. In February 2016 Turkey’s major cell operator Turkcell made offer for ourchase of TeliaSonera’s ratio (58.55%) in Fintur Holdings. As reported, Fintur owns ratio in Geocell, Azercell, Kcell and Moldcell.
