Several foreign companies plan to enter the Georgian air market in the next year. “Commersant” was told at the Georgia Airports Association. They say that in October 2015, Etihadwill start operating in the market and will fly from Tbilisi to Abu Dhabi. It is the fourth largest company in the Middle East.
Along with that, the Georgia Airports Association is currently in active negotiations with two airlines which will launch flights from Kutaisi international airport. But the airlines and direction of flights are not specified, they are expected to be announced in January.
Note: This year t Air Arabia and Aeroflot have entered the Georgian air market and perform flights from Tbilisi International Airport.
Head of the Airports Association Ketevan Aleksidze states that the Georgian air market is one of the fastest developing markets in the world. “Passenger increase is directly linked to stable economic development in the region and an increase in the number of air companies. As a result, tourism is growing annually by 20%.
Our goal is to attract low-cost airlines and introduce Georgia and our airports to the world,”- says Aleksidze.
