Shops have closed, one after another, on the main shopping street in Tbilisi’s city center.
“CBW” contacted a recently closed store. “New Line” manager Elene Sakhvadze explains to “CBW” that the main reason for the store closing was a high rental fee.
“Commercial spaces are so expensive, especially in the central streets, that it is not even worth renting them. GEL fluctuations had a negative impact on our business. Recently, the number of buyers has significantly reduced, “- says Elene Sakhvadze.
Sakhvadze speaks about the crisis in the country and notes that this situation has a negative impact on small business. In her words, “New Line” second branch, which is located in Tbilisi suburbs , will be closed in the near future too.
What fate awaits stores and commercial places located in the main shopping street is unclear so far.
But the fact remains — empty stores and rental ads strike the eye on the main shopping street of the capital.
