The Georgian beer industry representatives plan to meet with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili in the near future.
Natakhtari company corporate affairs director Nikoloz Khundzakishvili told the Business Contact that the current problems before the beer manufacturers should be resolved at the level of the Prime Minister.
“We consider all cases. We will accept even if the excise tax is not revised. However, this issue had been resolved at the level of the business ombudsman and we were content with those decision and we did not expect problems with that. The fact is the issue has been protracted”, Khundzakishvili said.
As reported, beer manufacturers had proposed to affix the excise tax rate to beer spirit level as one of the variants for revising the excise tax.
Excise tax on beer increased on March 1, 2015.
