Outdoor advertising industry is waiting for essential changes. If the parliament adopts the submitted bill, outdoor advertising companies will lose considerable revenues and a part of operating companies may go bankrupt, experts noted.
The bill calls for making amendments to the law on tobacco regulations, under which outdoor advertising of tobacco and tobacco products will be entirely prohibited.
It should be noted that tobacco products advertising has been long banned in Georgia. It is forbidden to advertise tobacco in TV channels and Internet space…
According to the IDFI research, several major outdoor advertising companies operate on the market Alma, Outdoor.ge and Fertuna Media, but several small companies are also represented on the market.
The company director Konstantine Chavchanidze told the CBW that the outdoor advertising industry receives a main part of revenues from tobacco and tobacco products advertising.
«Over a half part of our revenues, about 55%, comes from tobacco products advertising and adoption of this bill will hit our business directly. Outdoor advertising business is directly attached to tobacco adverting and if the tobacco advertising is banned, advertising companies will occur in heavy situation, while there are 12 similar companies in Georgia», Konstantine Chavchanidze said.
