Parliament of Georgia plans to introduce regulations in the gambling business to alleviate heavy social environment. According to reliable sources, the new bill will ban both outdoor and TV advertisements of gambling game.
Moreover, Georgian citizens will not be able to make payments by Georgian payment cards for foreign online gambling games.
Authors of the bill on Payment Systems and Payment Services state the new regulations will reduce the number of those addicted to gambling games, lower payments for foreign online gambling games and prevent money outflow from Georgia.
“This may become a formal restriction, because citizens may find new mechanisms. For example. the same companies may be registered abroad and people may be regrouped outside of the country through cards of foreign banks” Business Ombudsman Irali Lekvinadze told BM.GE
Parliament’s opposition expressed certain doubts regarding the amendments. The bill authors may be maybe lobbying gambling business, Roman Gotsiridze said.
“indirectly, this signifies that about 25 million GEL will be directed to Georgian casinos. There are certain doubts that this decision may be promoting Georgian casinos”, Roman Gotsiridze said.
