The Parliament of Georgia has approved the bill on increased excise tax on cigarettes and alcohol with 73 votes.
According to the bill, the tax increases by 0.20 GEL on filtered cigarettes (per 20 ones); on non-filtered cigarettes – by 0.05 GEL (per 20 ones). The proportional interest rate increases by 5-10 percent on filtered and non-filtered cigarettes.
Apart from this, the excise tax is planned to be increased on whiskey, rum and gin, etc. from 10 to 15 GEL and up to 10 GEL on other alcoholic beverages.
