In Business Course Tv program Georgian Business Ombudsman Irakli Lekvinadze has talked about the tariff that the USA has introduced in relation to foreign steel and aluminum.
“In May Ministry of Economy raised the mentioned issue at US Commerce Commission. Key issue is that Georgia be allowed not to pay the 20% tariff and enter the USA market under certain quotas. After this the Prime Minster’s signed letter was also sent to the due structure in the USA”, Irakli Lekvinadze noted.
The quota model will not be problematic for Georgia entrepreneurs, because Georgia steel production is small. At the same time, Irakli Lekvinadze talked about the company fears that the countries with restrictions will import their products to Georgia. Today’s prognosis does not give ground to make similar conclusion, Irakli Lekvinadze said.
The Business Ombudsman’s Office continues communication with state structures and Rustavi Steel company, Irakli Lekvinadze said.
