National Reforms Support Foundation for Accounting and Auditing Opened

France – Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFG) organized a solemn event dedicated to opening of “National Reforms Support Foundation for Accounting, Accounting and Auditing”.

From CCIFG side the Foundation is founded by its President Mr. Antoine Bardon. Apart from CCIFG, there are several organizations founders of the Foundation: the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), JPA International (France), Business Chamber of Georgia, Business Ladies Union, Tea Producers Union, Georgian National Committee on Large Dams and Independent Directors Association representatives. The foundation board also includes several private individuals from business and former government agencies. The goal of cooperation between the parties is to protect the requirements of the legislation of Georgia in the direction of accounting, financial reporting and audit and the irreversibility of reforms in this field.

At the official opening event, the speakers discussed the significance and the prospects of cooperation with the parties who will be interested in supporting the reforms in Georgia and raising the awareness about the accounting and audit reforms in professional circles, in the business and in general public.

His Excellence Mr. Pascal Munier, French Ambassador; Mr. Antoine Bardon, Head, CCIFG; Mrs. Maia Melikidze, Energy Regulatory Commission; Mrs. Mercy Tembon, World Bank, Country Director, Georgia; Mrs. Irina Gordeladze, CFRR; Mr. Zurab Katchkatchishvili, Head, ICC; Mr. Pierre Clouet, Head of French Institute of Georgia; Mr. Yuri Dolidze, Head, SARAS; Mr. Jacques Potdevin, President, JPA International, Chairman of the Foundation welcomed the guests at the event.

The Foundation has already signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with 9 leading accredited higher education institutions in Georgia, Banking Association and Energy and water supply regulatory commission of Georgia.

The event was attended by representatives of government circles, embassies, international organizations, businesses and business associations, higher education institutions, French organizations and other stakeholders.

The official opening event was held on January 23, 2019, in the Tiffany Terrace, Hotel River Side.

With the help of foreign donors in Georgia, implementation of activities in support of reforms in accounting, reporting and auditing activities are underway. The reform is envisaged by Georgia-EU Association Agenda, EU Directives and Georgia-EU Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA).
