Natakhtari: We Plan to Maintain Market Positions in 2017 without Growth or Slowdown Expectations

Natakhtari company has introduced a report on 2016 performance in beer industry. Regretfully, the industry has not grown in 2016. Slowdown trend continued in 2016 after beer excise tax rose on March 1, 2015, Nikoloz Khundzakishvili, director for Natakhtari corporate issues, said.

“Slowdown trend saw its bottom in December 2016. Next year we plan to follow the so-called FLAT policy, neither growth nor contraction. This policy will enable us to optimize potential in the industry with the aim to return lost positions starting 2018”, Khundzakishvili told Business Contract.

Last year the industry growth marked 15%, current growth is 8%. This signifies the 2015 slowdown will be 20-22%, he said.

“Growth in excise tax has provoked these tendencies and GEL devaluation was another factor, because national currency depreciation has narrowed solvency of our citizens”, Khundzakishvili said.
