IBRD Allocates $140m in Construction of Road Section in Georgia

International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) will allocated 140 million USD for funding construction of Zemo Osiauri-Chumateleti road section.

The relevant agreement has been signed by Nodar Khaduri, minister of Finance and Mercy Tembon, the World Bank’s Regional Director for the South Caucasus on Wednesday.

The project envisages construction of new 4-lane road section of 14,1 km of Zemo OsiauriChumateleti.

The World Bank will fund over 8,3 km from the motioned road section. It should be noted, that East-West Highway is the country’s main transport artery. Its construction is prerequisite to Georgia to become the region’s trade, economic, transport and logistics center.
