Government Owns 171 Inactive Enterprises

LEPL National Agency of State Property of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia is implementing quantitative optimization-minimization process of enterprises that are facing essential financial difficulties.

State-owned enterprises that do not operate at this stage and do not carry out entrepreneurial activities are subjected to merger, liquidation, bankruptcy or privatization of a certain stake.

In 2012 the quantity of state-owned enterprises made up 490. As a result of efficient implementation of the optimization plan and privatization of certain enterprises, the agency abolished 319 inactive bodies.

At this stage, the Government owns 171 enterprises.
