GIG Plans to Build a Semi-Coke Plant with Polish Partners

“Georgian Industrial Group” works on an innovative project.

Construction of semi-coke plant is planned in Tkibuli jointly with Polish partners; the local coal will be used as the raw material. It should be noted, that manufacturing of coke will be made by a new process, which is found by the Polish side and the method will be initially introduced via the new enterprise.

According to the company, the product (semi-coke) is widely used in metallurgy, namely in the production of ferroalloy. However, the plant will operate with two lines at the first stage.

The project will be carried by the joint investment of Georgian and Polish side. Launch of the plant is scheduled by 2018. To remind, “Georgian Industrial Group” is one of the biggest industrial groups in Georgia. Its business portfolio includes mining, generation of electricity (hydro, natural gas and coal-fired stations), natural gas trade and management of real estate.
