Georgian Prime Minister Predicts a Further Reduction in Fuel Prices

Georgian Prime Minister at a press conference said that it’s necessarily to deal with the prices of petroleum products in the country.

“We need to find out whether a monopoly or cartel transactions exist in the Georgian fuel market. This is true, especially in the backdrop of the constant decline in world oil prices, “- said the head of government.
According to him, the Competition Agency is already working on this issue.

“The fundamental study of this issue requires more time, ten days or even a month is not enough. But we already have the raw data, which can provide an overall picture. The Competition Agency has the necessary information and constantly consults with the oil companies “- said the Prime Minister.

According to him, the reduction in fuel prices should be accelerated.

“It cannot be otherwise. I am watching  closely a  process of price reductions by importers. I can say one thing – this should be done adequately to changes in prices in international oil markets. It’s not normal  when the price of oil constantly and consistently reduces in the world but in our country  it happens with a big delay. We need to understand  whether we are dealing with monopolies or cartels. We’ll  know it  very soon, and our response will be adequate, “- said the Prime Minister.
