Georgian Olive Oil to be Sold on the Local Market

A new local product – olive oil will be sold in Georgian stores and supermarkets starting November.

According to Director of GeOlive company Giorgi Svanidze, initially  the products will be sold only on the local market, since 2017 it is planned export olive oil abroad.

“We have already signed agreements with large retail chains – Carrefour,Goodwill and Smart. We will supply them with two varieties of olive oil – black and white, in one-liter and half-liter bottles,” – he says.

As for the price, according to Giorgi Svanidze, Georgian olive oil is cheaper than imported.

“Quality will fully comply with international standards, moreover, our product will be of higher quality than imported. At the first stage we will produce 100 tons of oil annually,” – he notes.

Since 2017 the company intends to start exporting products to EU countries, Russia, Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and the United States. According to the founder of GeOlive, their  products are able to compete with foreign counterparts. The company now owns the olive plantations built on the area of  50 hectares. The investment cost of the project amounts  to GEL 5 million.
