Georgia Defends Nabeghlavi Mineral Water Indication of Origin in China

Chinese companies have been banned to use the Georgian indication of origin of Nabeghlavi mineral water.

According to Sakpatenti, National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia, the Trademarks Office of State Administration for Industry and Commerce of China  (SAIC) has already taken a decision on registration of the indication of origin of the Georgian mineral water.

In 2016 Sakpatenti applied to SAIC trademarks office for registering the indication of origin of Nabeghlavi on behalf of Georgian Agriculture Ministry.

The Georgian indication of origin of Nabeghlavi mineral water had been dishonestly registered by two  Chinese companies. Sakpantei  submitted appeals against these two companies to SAIC trademarks office and requested a cancellation of registration. The Georgian party has won the case and the illegal registrations were annulled.
