Georgia has huge potential for hazelnut production, Ferrero representative told Business Course.
Ferrero Hazelnut Company manager Alessandro Boccardo noted that ratio of hazelnut on Georgian marked accounts for 4% and the output from one hectare may hit 2.5 tons.
“Filbert in Georgia grows on 50 000-60 000 hectares. According to our estimations, filbert production from 1 hectare may increase to 2.5 tons from 2 tons. Currently, filbert constitutes 4% of Georgian market. Georgia has huge potential for hazelnut production and hazelnut market ratio may double in Georgia.
As to Ferrero plans in Georgia, we want to create an exemplar business. Currently, we grow hazelnut on about 4000 hectares, but we plan to expand this space further, Alessandro Boccardo noted.
