EU Facilitates Tea Plantation Rehabilitation

Georgian tea producers, representatives of state institutions, tea cooperatives and tea plantation rehabilitation companies will meet in the country’s capital Tbilisi on 3 June to discuss the state program on tea plantation rehabilitation, called “Georgian Tea”.

The event is organized as part of the activities conducted by the partners of the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).

The forum will take place on 3 June 2016 from 12:30-17:20 at the Argo Hotel in Kutaisi. More information on event registration and participants can be found here.

Georgia is benefitting from EUR 52 million in support for agricultural and rural development through the EU-funded ENPARD Programme. Launched in 2012, the Programme aims to boost the production of food and to reduce rural poverty in Georgia.

Besides its grants component, ENPARD also provides direct budget support to the Government of Georgia for the implementation of its agriculture sector strategy, and brings expertise and know-how to the authorities. The second phase of the program has been just launched by the EU.
