Emercoin Blockchain Solution Delivers Secure, Accurate Education Credentials to Businesses

Emercoin announced the successful implementation of its open-source “Trusted Diploma” blockchain platform by the Tbilisi Business & Technology University (BTU), enabling businesses to verify the accuracy and authenticity of online education credentials.

As blockchain grows beyond fintech to empower other industries with new levels of security and immutability, the unique collaboration between Emercoin and BTU marks a new phase in the technology’s expansion. Currently in use by BTU, the Trusted Diploma platform uses blockchain to provide the education sector with verifiable diplomas and other certificates on an encrypted and secure app.

The app gives businesses the tools they need to hire graduates with trusted proof of education achievements.

Trusted Diploma addresses a complicated social issue in both developed and developing countries: while recruiting employees, businesses often cannot rely on online displays of education credentials as they are increasingly viewed as unreliable proofs of work. Graduates also face difficulty obtaining their records from colleges or school systems that have closed or otherwise refused to recognize their legitimate credentials.

Problems in the education sector were cited as a global crisis in a 2016 report to UNESCO and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

“We are very happy to work with the innovative Emercoin team on this crucially important project. The Trusted Diploma platform will help our school build a secure and immutable database of education certificates, which will help our graduates as they pursue successful careers,”Mikheil Batiashvili said.

To combat manipulation in the education system, Emercoin developed the open-source  “Trusted Diploma” platform. With its help, schools, businesses and graduates can validate the online accuracy and authenticity of education credentials, as well as share verifiable diplomas and other certificates on an encrypted and secure app.

“We urge everyone to join our effort, which will improve professional services and protect people from dangerous fraud in the health care, legal, real estate, and other sectors”, said Eugene Shumilov, CEO of Emercoin.

Venture capitalist Bill Tai, an Emercoin advisor, said the Trusted Diploma platform will soon become a vital tool for a wide range of clients, including online job sites like LinkedIn and Indeed.com.

“Much like the little ‘check mark’ on Twitter or Facebook profiles, companies such as LinkedIn or Indeed.com could use this to validate the data represented on profiles, ensuring that data is tamper-proof and accurate,” said Tai. “Through secure, distributed blockchain services, the company has managed to come up with a flexible, user-friendly, and easily accessible technological solution.”
