Businessman Giorgi Kodua is trying to obtain the right to fly a business jet under the Georgian flag. In a conversation with “Commersant”, Kodua says that there were some problems with the registration procedures.
“The moratorium was announced and Georgian airlines registration was limited until January. These restrictions are to be lifted in January, but as reported, will be prolonged until May. The plane is parked at the Tbilisi airport for 4-5 months. For this reason we are suffering losses ,” says Kodua.
He explains that the business jet has already performed non-profit flights under the flag of the United States.
George Kodua applied to the Civil Aviation Agency concerning the registration, then contacted the Ministry of Economy and received their willingness for cooperation.
He notes that the Civil Aviation Agency hinders the development of healthy competition in Georgia.
Businessman Giorgi Kodua will offer business people private jet services. Kodua states “Commersant” that Georgia is not a rich country, so he decided to bring the business-jet adapted to the local market. According to him, businessmen or any interested persons can fly on a 5-seater jet for USD 2 500 per hour.
Kodua notes that today anyone can use the government Challenger aircraft for USD 10 000 per hour.
In his words, the business jet is designed for trips in the region and both Azerbaijani and Armenian citizens express their interest. The calculation is made on the casino-tours and oilmen who held business meetings in the region. Kodua adds that the Business Club is planned to be set up in the future which members will have special cards and will be able to use different services. The business-jet is undergoing various safety procedures and will start flights by the end of the year.
