Construction of a ski lift on Mountain Kohta which is located in Georgia’s ski resort Bakuriani has finished.
Rehabilitation of Kokhta Ski Chairlift was conducted on behalf of memorandum signed among National Agency of State Property of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, LEPL Mountain Resorts Development Company of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and New Mitarbi LTD – a part of GRDC Holding of the TBC Group.
Opening of the new cableway was marked with Bakuriani hosting the first phase of the Ski Championship of Georgia.
The Memorandum implied the development of tourist infrastructure in Bakuriani and Mitarbi. Namely, a four-season mountain resort concept shall be implemented which will result into further popularization of the mountain tourism in Georgia.
At the same time, two ski lifts shall be installed on the Kokhta 2 Mountain and a rope lift will connect Kokhta 2 with Kokhta and the construction shall be finished by the end of 2016. Moreover, tourist-friendly infrastructure for 300 people will also be built. Tourist facilities designed for 300 persons shall also be provided.
One of the world’s leading company working in the field of winter resort tourism infrastructure development – Austrian company Doppelmayr, – conducted all the construction works.
This investment is beneficiary not only for the region but for the whole state as well. I am glad that a model implying the cooperation between the Government and the privet sector is being implemented for the first time in Georgia
