Anaklia Seaport Project Wins the Year’s Strategic Project Award in Washington

According to the information spread by the Voice of America, the Anaklia Seaport project has won an award as the Year’s Strategic Project at the Global Infrastructure Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C.

Anaklia Development Consortium won the tender for Anaklia Deepwater Seaport Construction and Operation on February 8. The consortium was jointly founded by TBC Holding and Conti International US company.

The Anaklia Seaport construction works will be carried out in several stages  and its final turnover capacity will be 100 million tons.

The seaport will launch operation after its turnover capacity has reached 7 million tons, in no later than 3 years after the start of construction works.

Representatives of the Anaklia Development Consortium state that in the seaport construction process 3 400 persons will be employed, and after completion of the construction works, the seaport will employ 6 400 persons.

The Anaklia new deepwater seaport will occupy about 400 hectares and receive vessels able to transport 10 000 containers. The seaport will serve big ships that could not enter Georgian seaports previously.
