Air Charter: Private Flights are in Demand, Supply is Limited and Expensive

Air Charter company that offers private charter flights complains about shortage of flying machines and aerodromes in the country.

Air Charter founder Levan Gurgenidze told GBC that there is much demand for air taxis and private flights, but there is no suitable infrastructure and flying machines in the country. The company has already applied to Ministry of Economy for use of state-owned flying machines. In parallel regime, negotiations are underway with foreign companies for making investments in Georgia. No specific figures are unveiled.

In the USA, tariffs of flying machines are lower than land transport and our company aims to main air transport affordable for medium segment. We mean 15-23 passenger airplanes for groups and the service price per passenger will be cheaper, Gurgenidze noted. Today domestic flights are very expensive and the flights frequency remains a problematic issue, Gurgenidze said.

Gurgenidze referred to Gem Fest example, when about 5-8% of 30 000 visitors paid more than 1000 GEL for direct flight to Anaklia.

“There is real demand on the market, but supply is limited and consequently, and tourists will not arrive in Georgia in 2017 because of high tariffs”, Gurgenidze said.

It should be noted that Air Charter company launched private, group and cargo charter flights, including in Georgia and any point of the world, by support of American, English, Russian and European partners.
