AGSO: Nut Export Growth is Conditioned due to the Opening of last Year’s Reserves

Consulting Company Agro Solution links nut export growth from Georgia to the opening of last year’s reserves.

The company explains that nut can occupy significant share in the export basket for the future and there is an opportunity of export growth as well. Georgia is in the top – 10 of the world’s rating by nut production and several hundred ha nut gardens are grown in Samegreo and Kakheti regions through the last 2-3 years.

“It should be noted, that nut quality was low in Samegrelo due to excessive rainfall and respectively, the harvest was small. Unlike Samegrelo region, there has been a good nut harvest in Kakheti, but the overall nut production volume is still low compared to the last year.

Turkey opened the reserves in the previous year and nut price fell down. So, the population did not sell the nut and kept the product. This year, good quality nut has a high price and old products are sold well along the new one. Therefore, this fact has resulted export growth in this year as of the data of 10 months”, – Agro Solution declares.

To remind, according to 10 months, revenues received from nut export has made up 146 million USD, the figure exceeds by 1,1 million comparing to the same period of the previous year.
