In the medium term, we expect to see the lari strengthening – the Minister of Finance Nodar Khaduri told Georgian journalists on the eve after the meeting of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili with the government’s economic team and President of the National Bank of Georgia Giorgi Kadagidze.
According to the Minister of Finance, macroeconomic factors affecting the exchange rate of the lari are exhausted.
“During today’s regular working meetings what we have repeatedly stated before was stressed. In particular, the fact that the macroeconomic factors affecting the exchange rate of lari are fully exhausted. In the medium term, we expect lari to strengthen. It was emphasized once again that neither the budget transactions nor refinancing loans have had a negative impact on the exchange rate and, most importantly, the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the Government, the National Bank of Georgia have agreed to use all of our resources in order to prevent changes of this kind in the future,” the Minister of Finance said.
